United Way Hungary (Eroforras Alapitvany) launches the Safety School program
The International Donor Advised Giving Program provides United States donors the flexibility to identify and support their own causes, organizations or programs—including local United Ways—while preserving the tax benefits of giving to a United States-based charitable organization.
Since 1999, the United Way International Donor Advised Giving program has helped companies, foundations and individuals achieve their worldwide charitable giving goals with peace of mind and full legal compliance. The United Way program has a proven track record awarding an average of 700 grants totaling more than $30 million annually to organizations in more than 100 countries.
United Way facilitates advised grants to donor-recommended organizations or can propose opportunities to meet a company’s social responsibility goals.
Donor advised grants can be made by cash donation, check, wire transfer or marketable securities and formalized through an agreement between the donor and United Way. The grant can be used for charitable purposes in a particular country, region or field of charitable interest, or to support a charitable organization—including United Way—outside the U.S.
To cover the extensive due diligence, processing and legal compliance paperwork, the minimum grant amount is USD $5,000 and a small grant oversight charge is applied.

A donor advised fund offers you an easy-to-establish, low cost, flexible vehicle for charitable giving as an alternative to direct giving or creating a private foundation, which can involve substantial start-up costs. Donors contribute a sum of money, make grant recommendations at their preference and replenish the fund over a number of years. Donors appreciate this service when they want the utmost flexibility and can make grant recommendations on their own schedule.
